Sound level meters are used to measure acoustic sound (which travels through the air).
They are commonly used in noise pollution studies for the quantification of different kinds of noise (most notably for industrial, environmental and aircraft noise). AES supplies a wide range of sound monitoring instruments, which can be divided into two categories – Type 1 SLM and Type 2 SLM.
Sound level meters are most commonly configured as a hand-held instrument with a microphone to capture noise. The noise is evaluated within the sound meter and acoustic measurement values are displayed on the screen. All of the products supplied by AES are powerful, yet feature an easy-to-use design for utmost convenience.
An important attribute to consider when choosing a suitable sound meter is its type or class. The type or class defines the instrument’s accuracy as per International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) guidelines.
For noise monitoring in basic industrial, commercial, educational, recreational or residential applications, a Type 2 meter will suffice. For precision-grade assessments (often performed in a laboratory), a Type 1 meter is primarily used.
AES supplies our complete range of sound level meters to all Australian capital cities, including: Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Hobart, Darwin and Canberra.
