Todd Connor, Compliance Coordinator
Company
Port Pirie Regional Council
As a Compliance Officer, we manage a number of regulatory services in Council under several different legislations, including Dog and Cat Management, Local Nuisance and Litter Control, Local Government and Fire and Emergency Services Acts.
Within our role, we regularly receive customer requests relating to noise (for example, barking dogs, roosters crowing or machinery etc) which are investigated as the relevant legislations. When a complaint is not able to be initially resolved. Further investigation may require obtaining evidence of the alleged noise to support any formal actions Council may take.
We have set up the Trojan Device at various complainant’s properties, to help obtain evidence of the alleged nuisance noise.
After researching multiple devices available, we believed the Trojan device was best suited to our needs which was then confirmed in the advice given from the AES sales team, with assurance’s provided towards the ease of deployment, use as well as the software supplied to generate reports and graphs available through Noise Tools without any ongoing associated fees.
The availability to set the device to capture 30 seconds before and after using the record button (assists greatly in capturing short infrequent nuisance noise incidents otherwise missed). The record on/off button only capturing relevant recordings, previous devices used have recorded the entire period of deployment, meaning days and/or weeks worth of records to review, and were quite invasive on the complainants’ privacy. Lastly the available software to create reports internally within Noise Tools, and the associated tutorial videos allowing maximum utilisation of both the hard and software’s.
The AES sales team gave expert advice of their products making sure we purchased the right tool for the job.
